What sets Carolyn apart from other pickleball coaches is her ability to actually see your game — the good, the bad, and the “please don’t look at that footwork.” She spots the weakness, zeroes in on it, and sticks with you until it clicks. If it takes ten lessons or ten minutes, she’s right there with you, not giving up before you get it.

One of the biggest perks of working with Carolyn is that her ego is not part of the lesson. We’ve all had that instructor who shows you a shot there is no way in hell you can hit, then keeps feeding you the same ball while you spend an hour doing wind sprints. Carolyn doesn’t do that. She meets you where you are and builds from there.

Carolyn coaches at Bay Padel on Treasure Island, and she has the rare ability to play exactly at the level you need. If you’re a 4.5, she plays 4.7. If you’re a 3.0, she plays 3.2. Quarter-step better — enough to push you, never enough to crush your soul. Not many coaches can actually shift gears that precisely.

And once she’s taught you a skill, she doesn’t harp on every missed shot afterward. Instead, her go-to line is: “What did you think you did?” If you nail the answer, great — back to drilling. If not, she’ll set you straight and keep you moving.
